Christmas brunch with Chappell-Lakin family

With Mali, Greta and Quinn at the recently inaugurated Annual Christmas Brunch.

Decorating the Tree

The holidays get more fun each year as the boys get older and start to understand what we are doing and why, and remember the traditions from year to year. This year they remembered the advent calendar from last year and were so excited to get it out and start counting down the days. They also had fun seeing the tree decorations and remembering their favorite ones. I love the holidays with kids!

The boys have been so sweet to each other in the past few months and developing a really special bond. Here are a few pictures to prove it!

Brave Squirrel and the Angel

Silas has enjoyed so many things about school this year. One of his favorite things has been the school performances at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have been touched by the time and care that the teachers have put into these performances as well. They know how special it is for the kids, but also how important it is to the parents to see their kids in action. Silas says, "I love my teachers at DPCC, and I love my beautiful school."

Halloween 2008

We had a surprisingly fun Halloween this year (I'm kind of a kermudgen about the holiday... for a variety of reasons). On Thursday we had a super fun party at Silas's school where he dressed up as a bear and Asher was a dog.

On Halloween itself we went trick or treating on a street nearby that is pretty well organized with treats for kids and drinks for parents :). It was so fun to see Silas and Asher going up to the houses so boldly and running around in the semi-dark as if they owned the world! For this occasion Silas was a Notre Dame cheerleader while his friend was his female counterpart. Asher was again a dog :).

Finally, my friend just sent me an email entitled "Need a reason to smile?" with the following picture attached of Silas with the same friend:
